Upward Sports
Upward teaches children the fundamentals of sports, Christlike virtues, and what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Grades: 1st-5th
Winter basketball and cheer is available for boys and girls 1st through 5th grade.
Our goal is to provide divisions based on skill and grade. The groups will likely be co-ed for the younger kids and possibly separated for the older ages. However, registration numbers will determine the actual number of divisions and whether or not teams will be co-ed.
Cost: $40 per child
Registration ends on Sunday, November 30
Registration is not complete until full payment is received online through Upward’s website

All practices will be at the Capitol City Christian Church gym. Practices and games will both be on Saturday mornings. Practice, break, game.
First Game Day: January 10 TBD (In the morning and depending on sign-up numbers)
Final Game: February 28 (Depending on weather cancellations)

Coaches (Head Coach/Assistant)
Help students succeed by volunteering! Volunteer coaches are needed to lead our teams. Volunteer referees are also a vital part of the experience. Volunteer building hosts/greeters are needed to make people feel welcome and to provide any information about the church or the building.
What is required of me?
Complete a coach application through the link provided on the Capitol City Christian Church Upward Sports page.
A background check will be required for the head coach (no additional cost).
Lead ten 40-minute practices, starting December 13.
Lead eight 40-minute games after practice, starting January 10.
What is my role?
Teach the game through drills. Instruct the rules of the game. Instill sportsmanship with a competitive spirit. Lead the kids to know Jesus in a real way! Upward provides complete training assistance, including practice plans and drills, to help you succeed!

What is required of me?
Complete a volunteer application online. Have at least a casual understanding of basketball.
Spend two to three hours refereeing games on game day.
What is my role?
You are a role model on the field, providing encouragement to the players. You will control the game by making the necessary calls and enforcing the rules.

Building Host/Greeter
What is required of me?
Be available on Saturday mornings from 8:00a-12:00p.
Welcome parents and participants as they enter and leave the building.
Guide and direct parents and participants where to go upon arrival.
Answer any building or church questions they may have.
